John Minnitt
MerciJohn Minnitt
pierre
Hi, there's no such thing as an archery wood specialised dealer in France. you'll have to visit your local wood dealer or wood mills. Lemonwod and hickory are quite rare in France nut you should be able to find some ipe quite easily; If you want some yew of some elm, you'll have to harvest it by yourself.... Corbeau
.........Qu'est ce que le mot en francais pour 'bow stave', 'billet' etc?............Translation attempt of some wood bowyery words that could be useful :Bow stave : billette (for bowyers) = chevron (for millers and common woodworkers).Billet = demi-billette ? I don't think there is a specific french word for it.Quarter sawn, edge-ringed wood = bois débité sur quartierBias-ringed = bois débité sur faux-quartierDecrowned, flat-ringed board = bois débité sur dosse.Feel free to ask for more. Corbeau
perhaps you can try "scieries" = sawmill?+1Sawmills can easily provide boards from ash that can give you several ELB staves if properly selected. You could ask to see some mid-log boards = "le plateau du milieu de la bille".
